I’m trying to relate this to my own meager existence. Yesterday, I purchased a colorful stained glass/beach glass mosaic at a gallery for a fraction of the cost of The Scream. My husband didn’t bat an eye when I described it to him but the purchase made my stomach churn from the expense, which I swiftly rationalized. Is there a phone call? “Honey, I just spent $120 million on a painting but I really love it and wait until you see it, you will too. It’s going to look great where the starfish is hanging now and I was thinking we can give that to the kids… .”
